New FE jobs website off to flying a start

FEjobs.com, the specialist further education recruitment service, announced this week more than 10% of AoC colleges have signed up just six weeks after its launch in December 2004. Uptake has been especially prevalent in the London area with 40% of colleges already registered.

The site, developed in association with the Association of Colleges (AoC), has already attracted hundreds of job postings from over 40 colleges throughout England and Wales.

Sue Dutton, Deputy Chief Executive, Association of Colleges commented,

‘The feedback we have had from our members has been excellent. Given that most of our personnel officers are not familiar with using the Internet as a medium for recruitment, we are delighted. Our aim is to help colleges reduce the cost of recruitment, speed up the overall process and give them greater choice of candidate.’

The development of www.FEjobs.com is a result of the combined expertise of college personnel officers and Eteach.com, the UK’s leading education recruitment business.  FEjobs.com enables colleges to advertise their vacancies online, reaching a wider pool of candidates almost instantly, and to receive candidate applications on and offline.

The costs of placing an online advert are considerably less than taking newspaper adverts.

“When we learnt that FEjobs was developed with the AoC and is supported by the major unions, North Hertfordshire College initially decided to use it on a Pay-per-Vacancy basis.  We were happy with the response and decided to make use of the additional features associated with the annual subscription.   The website is easy-to-use, enables us to give the information about our college and its location and the candidates apply directly to us electronically on our own college forms.  A real benefit is being able to attach our own recruitment information and the job description for each post.  In a short space of time the response has been better than the traditional national press and I believe this will continue as the service establishes itself as the market leader. “

Carol Ashby, Human Resources Manager, North Hertfordshire College

FE managers, lecturers and administrators looking for new posts can search the FEjobs.com online vacancy database free, at any time, for positions throughout England and Wales.  Candidates can also register for free job alerts, which will email them suitable jobs according to the criteria they have set. College application forms may be downloaded by jobseekers or in some cases completed online and returned. It is possible that applications could be received within one hour of the vacancy advert appearing.
