<p>Chesterfield College is a large general Further Education college that serves a wide catchment area in Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire, Sheffield and beyond - west into the Derbyshire Dales and High Peak, east into Bolsover and south into Amber Valley and the outskirts of Derby. <br /><br />In 2009/10 Chesterfield College enrolled 11,000 learners of whom 575 were pre-16, 4,800 were 16-18 and 5,625 were adult learners. 2,000 learners travelled to College from outside Chesterfield each week on contract buses.<br /><br />The majority of learners (89%) were on programmes funded by the Young Peoples’ Learning Agency and the Skills Funding Agency. In addition, 560 learners were on higher education programmes funded by the Higher Education Funding Council. During the year, 1,200 learners undertook NVQs in the workplace through Train to Gain, 800 trainees were on Apprenticeships and a further 125 were on Entry to Employment programmes. <br /><br />The College currently has 601 full-time equivalent permanent staff of whom 271 are teaching staff.<br /><br />The Principalship within College is made up of the Principal, three Deputy Principals for Learning & Standards, Planning, Funding & Resources and Enterprise, Engagement & Innovation together with the Clerk to the Corporation.
