INTRODUCTION TO CITY COLLEGE NORWICH
City College is a large, predominantly vocational college of further and higher education based in the city of Norwich. The college operates most of its services from a single site campus close to the city centre.
City College offers a balanced portfolio of academic and vocational provision across a wide range of subject and curriculum areas. It currently provides programmes in 14 of the 15 Learning and Skills Council’s subject sector areas.
The college delivers a range of Work Based Learning programmes including Modern Apprenticeships and Entry to Employment.
City College is an Associate College of the University of East Anglia (UEA) and has a substantial cohort of learners – more than 1500 in 2006-7 – studying at higher levels, predominantly on vocational programmes such as Foundation Degrees and HNC’s (HND’s) but also substantive numbers on BA’s and BSc’s.
The college is very actively engaged in the delivery of 14-16 school programmes, working with over 32 high schools to deliver programmes and tasters, including a substantial DfES funded Increased Flexibility Programme and a Young Apprenticeship course in Creative Arts.
THE COLLEGE MISSION
City College Norwich is an inclusive, accessible college of further and higher education which provides high quality services to the range of diverse communities within the locality and the region which it services.
In particular the college, often in collaboration with others, will act as a catalyst in supporting economic development and regeneration in the region through providing excellent, relevant and industry-standard vocational education and training to meet existing and forecasted skills needs.
It works collaboratively with other agencies, in particular local and county-wide schools, to ensure the widest range of learning opportunities are made available to all 14-19 learners across the county.
The college provides for basic skills needs of the local population, at the college, in the community or in the workplace and is the primary vocational Higher Education provision for the region.
