About us

Swindon College offers the widest range of full-time courses in the area with a mix of learning and training; preparing students both for employment and for university study. We also offer excellent success and progression rates.

Our industry-standard facilities – including engineering, construction, hospitality and catering, hairdressing, beauty and art and design – make us the first choice for those considering vocational (work-related) courses in the region.

Our new purpose-built construction centre also now provides excellent facilities for our brickwork and plastering students on our main campus at North Star.

At Swindon College we put students first. We are large enough to offer a full range of courses and facilities but small enough to care about individuals. All students have the benefits of a personal tutor and a team of highly-experienced professional teaching staff.

We offer a range of courses at different levels. Many of our students enter further education programmes, achieve and then progress on to full-time higher education courses here at the college or at universities around the country. Swindon College offers university-level courses at HNC/D, Foundation Degree, and BA (Hons) Degree.

  • Staff Development - We are committed to developing your skills, knowledge and experience and offer access to a wide range of development and training options throughout the College.
  • Annual Leave - Business Support staff enjoy 25 days annual leave (pro rata for part time staff) rising to 30 days after 5 years complete service. Academic staff receive 39 days annual leave per year, and management staff 35 days.
  • Car Parking - We offer pay and display car parks for the use of staff and students which are monitored by CCTV security cameras. Annual permits are available to staff at an extremely competitive price.
  • Refreshments - We pride ourselves in operating a diverse, affordable and exciting daily menu in our Refectory with plenty of healthy options. The College also has the ‘Bar Barista Coffee Shop’ and ‘The Restaurant’ which offers fun themed nights on a regular basis. These are both training environments for supervised students working towards a career in the industry. On site we also have a Starbucks and Costa Coffee!
  • The Salon - our amazing salon provides a full range of hair and beauty services and treatments provided by our supervised students working towards there qualifications.
  • Wellbeing - we offer a confidential and expert advice and counselling through our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for all employees.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme - In conjunction with Halfords cycle2work, the College can provide you with a new bike and the appropriate cycling safety accessories and, providing the main use of the bike is for commuting to work, you will incur no tax or National Insurance on the benefit. This means you'll save money compared to purchasing a new bike outright. You are also able to pay for this monthly from your salary (over a period of 12 or 18 months), as a salary sacrifice which means giving up part of your salary in exchange for a non cash benefit; in this case the bike and safety accessories.
