Sunderland College has been delivering highly successful courses for more than 20 years and is one of the largest providers of post-16 education in the North East with approximately 14,300 students.

How will this person be a Changemaker?
You will raise expectations for students with additional needs and ensure support leads to independence, achievement, and progression. You will strengthen links between Inclusive Learning and curriculum areas, improve the quality of EHCP reviews, and use data to show the impact of support on retention and success. Your leadership will shape a consistent, high standard of inclusive practice across the college.
About the Role
As Inclusive Practice Coordinator, you will lead a team of Learning Mentors to deliver high quality, person centred support for students with learning difficulties, disabilities, and high needs. You will support EHCP reviews, and the effective deployment of staff to meet identified needs.
This is a permanent full time role based at Sunderland College. You will work closely with the Head of Inclusive Practice to strengthen inclusive systems and processes across the campus.
This role offers the opportunity to lead service improvement, influence college wide practice, and develop staff through coaching and training. You will gain experience in high needs funding, statutory processes, and data systems such as Prosolution and Promonitor, while building leadership capability within a large further education setting.
Essential Skills and Experience
• Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and Education, Health and Care Plans.
• Experience of leading or coordinating support for students with learning difficulties and disabilities.
• Experience of EHCP review meetings and multi agency working.
• Ability to analyse data and produce clear reports on student progress and impact.
• Ability to plan effective support strategies and guide staff to implement them.
• Experience of exam access arrangements and high needs funding processes.
