The Opportunity

As our new GCSE Maths & English Teacher within the Landbased Industries department, you’ll play a key role in supporting learners to develop essential Maths and English skills that underpin their wider vocational studies and future progression.

You’ll deliver engaging, accessible GCSE Maths and English lessons to learners across the department, helping them build confidence, improve attainment and achieve their qualifications. While maths delivery will be a primary focus, you’ll also support English delivery, ensuring learners receive a well-rounded and consistent experience across both subject areas.

In this role, you’ll design and deliver high-quality lessons using a variety of teaching approaches to meet the needs of a diverse cohort of learners. You’ll develop schemes of work, lesson plans and teaching resources that support effective learning, and you’ll assess student progress regularly providing constructive, motivating feedback that enables learners to reach their full potential.

You’ll play an active role in curriculum development, working closely with course leaders and colleagues to review and enhance course delivery, contribute to new course development and improve student outcomes including attendance, retention and achievement. You’ll also provide academic and pastoral support, creating a positive and supportive learning environment where learners feel motivated to succeed.

Alongside your teaching, you’ll contribute to the wider student journey, supporting enrolment and recruitment activities, attending events, completing progress reviews and engaging with parents/carers where appropriate. You’ll be part of a collaborative team, contributing to an innovative and continuously improving curriculum offer.

About You

You are a passionate and dedicated educator who believes in the importance of Maths and English as essential life skills. You are committed to helping learners overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve success, particularly within a vocational learning environment.

You bring experience of delivering engaging lessons to a range of learners and are confident adapting your teaching to meet different needs and abilities. You understand the academic and pastoral challenges faced by GCSE learners and use supportive, inclusive approaches to help them progress.

You are skilled at providing clear, constructive feedback that motivates learners and supports improvement, and you use a range of teaching and assessment strategies to drive achievement. You are organised, professional and proactive, with a flexible approach and a genuine commitment to continuous improvement.

Above all, you care about the whole learner. You take pride in supporting young people not only academically but pastorally, helping them develop independence, self-belief and the confidence they need to succeed.

Required

• Teaching qualification (Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent, or willingness to work towards)

• A Level in Maths or equivalent Level 3 qualification

• GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above)

• Experience of working within an education setting

• Experience of delivering learning to a range of learners

• Experience of developing learning materials
