The Opportunity

Are you passionate about health and ready to make a real impact? Barnsley College is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Health Teacher to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Whether you’re an experienced teacher or a healthcare practitioner looking for a rewarding career change, we’d love to hear from you. If you're not yet qualified to teach, we will support you to gain your Level 6 PGCE.

In this role, you will bring health subjects to life through engaging, inclusive teaching that builds learners’ skills, knowledge and confidence.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will teach across a range of vocational health programmes using a variety of engaging methods. A key part of your role will be to create and adapt high quality learning materials, ensuring they are current, relevant and accessible. You will guide learners through assessments, provide constructive and motivating feedback, and support them in achieving their academic and personal goals.

Your responsibilities will also include monitoring progress, maintaining accurate records and contributing to course reviews and curriculum development. You’ll work closely with Course Leaders, colleagues and industry partners to ensure our provision reflects the needs of the sector. Alongside teaching, you’ll also take part in learner recruitment activities such as interviews, enrolment, open events and school liaison.

Above all, you will create a supportive, respectful and motivating learning environment where every student feels valued, challenged and ready for the next step in their journey.

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about health education and dedicated to supporting learners to thrive. You will enjoy teaching and be confident communicating with young people, colleagues and external partners. You will bring enthusiasm, creativity and a willingness to continually develop your practice.

You should have strong knowledge of health-related subjects and be able to deliver content in an engaging, accessible way. Organisation, adaptability and a proactive approach are essential, as is the ability to build positive relationships with learners and colleagues. You will be supportive, approachable and committed to fostering a safe and positive learning experience for all.
