The Opportunity 

Barnsley College is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Teacher of Counselling to join our Society, Health and Development team at Northern College site. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and support learners studying Counselling Skills and Counselling Studies programmes up to Level 3.

In this role, you will deliver engaging and inclusive teaching, ensuring learners develop the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours required for progression within the counselling profession. You will plan and deliver high-quality learning experiences, assess learner achievement, support individual progress and contribute to a positive learning environment where students can thrive.

Working within CPCAB requirements, you will facilitate counselling skills practice, personal development groups and reflective learning activities, while supporting learners to develop active listening, empathy, self-awareness and an understanding of professional and ethical practice. You will also play a key role in learner recruitment, quality assurance activities and curriculum development, helping to maintain the high standards of teaching and learning for which Barnsley College is known.

Required

• Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards a Level 6 PGCE. 

• Level 3 qualification in Counselling or a relevant subject area. 

• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent Level 2 qualifications. 

• Minimum of three years' relevant industry experience within counselling or a related field. 

• Good knowledge of counselling practice, ethical frameworks and professional standards. 

• Ability to plan, deliver and assess high-quality learning programmes. 

• Ability to support and motivate learners to achieve their full potential. 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels. 

• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to curriculum development. 

• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion. 

• A positive, enthusiastic and learner-centred approach.
