The Opportunity

We are looking for a proactive, confident and highly motivated Work Placement Officer to join our Work Placement team, supporting the Construction curriculum area.

In this exciting and outward facing role, you will raise the profile of Barnsley College within the local and regional business community by building strong, positive relationships with employers and industry networks. You will actively identify and secure high quality work placement opportunities for students, ensuring growth against allocated curriculum targets.

A key part of the role includes working closely with students to understand their career aspirations, supporting them in preparing for workplace environments, and visiting them throughout their placements to monitor progress, provide encouragement and ensure every placement is safe, meaningful and successful.

Your work will directly shape the experiences and employability of our learners, making this a rewarding role for someone who thrives in a fast paced, people focused and relationship driven environment.

About You

You will be warm, approachable and confident in engaging with young people, including those who may have had challenging experiences in education.

You will be able to manage competing priorities, communicate effectively, maintain confidentiality and contribute to a positive and inclusive team culture. Emotional resilience, a calm manner and strong IT skills are essential, as is a genuine commitment to supporting young people to succeed.

You will also be comfortable engaging with employers at all levels, in person, on site visits, via social media, telephone and through networking events, promoting Barnsley College and the value of work placements to local industry.

Required

• Relevant NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent qualification)

• GCSE Maths and English or equivalent Level 2 qualification (or willingness to work towards)

• Experience of working within a customer focused environment

• Experience of working/liaising with employers

• Experience of building positive relationships with employers
