Maesteg School is a highly supportive and aspirational community in which both learners and staff are genuinely valued and nurtured. In an Interim Visit in October 2026, Estyn recognised that leaders have “developed a culture where self-evaluation is an integral part of school life”, with professional learning, coaching and action research embedded to support teachers at all stages of their careers. The report highlights how “senior and middle leaders work well together”, creating a collaborative culture built on trust, reflection and shared responsibility for improvement. For aspiring leaders, Maesteg offers a caring, forward-thinking environment where wellbeing and high standards go hand in hand, and where leaders are empowered to make a real and lasting difference.
