Job description
25 hours per week

Llangewydd Junior School is situated in Bridgend and part of the Bryntirion Cluster of schools. There are 350 pupils on roll aged between seven and eleven years. The school has 12 mainstream classes and 2 ALN classes.

About the role:

We’re creating something unique for our pupils: a robust, child-led outdoor learning programme that runs year-round in our vast grounds within the schools. The Governing Body are seeking to appoint a passionate, qualified leader to promote outdoor learning across the school. We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and inspiring person to set up, develop and lead our forest school sessions lead and develop forest school provision in all weathers.

We are looking for someone who will create engaging learning opportunities that enable pupils to develop creativity, resilience, leadership, empathy and a love of the world around them. We want someone who places wellbeing as the foundation of their practice and recognises children’s different social, emotional and physical needs.

The successful candidate will:

- Lead daily Forest School sessions with small groups of learners

- Create exciting, safe, and engaging outdoor learning experiences

- Support child-led exploration and risk-taking through nature

- Encourage resilience, curiosity, and confidence in children

- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to embed outdoor learning across the curriculum

- Maintain tools, outdoor resources and woodland areas

- Promote a deep respect for the environment through hands-on experience

- Work effectively as part of a successful team.

- Be able to support with behaviour both inside and outside of the classroom.

At Llangewydd Juniors we are committed to high quality professional development and can offer friendly, enthusiastic, happy learners who will challenge your thinking. We are committed to staff well-being and will provide a supportive working environment for all.

Successful shortlisted candidates will be asked to visit the school by appointment with the Headteacher.
