Independent Travel Training Officer
Hours : 37 Full Time, Permanent
Salary BG9: £31,067 - £33,366
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about delivering positive outcomes for children and young people to join our new Independent Travel Training Team. This new team will sit within the Home to School Travel (HTST) service, which aims to support children and young people to travel to school/college in the most independent and inclusive way possible, in line with the Council’s statutory duties.
The Independent Travel Training programme will support children and young people in education to build the confidence and skills to enable them to be better prepared for the transition into further education and/or employment.
You will provide one to one sessions with children and young people that will enable them to access their point of education independently by use of public transport and support them to develop vital ‘life skills’, such as social interaction and problem solving, that will be essential for independent travel beyond education and in to adulthood.
You will also build positive relationships with schools and colleges by delivering classroom based sessions to small numbers of pupils.
We would be delighted to receive your application if you have the skills and experience to work with us. We believe this to be an exciting opportunity to deliver change and make a real difference directly for children and families.
Please note that the role involves travelling to various locations throughout the city using public transport as well as by foot. A free travel pass will be provided. Travel Training will usually occur during the morning and afternoon journey to and from school. You will need to be flexible when working one-to-one with children and young people.
Please note that this role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.
