Deputy Headteacher Secondment Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced senior leader with experience as an Assistant Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher to join our vibrant, three form entry, split site primary school as a Deputy Headteacher on a 1-year fixed term contract or on a secondment for 1 year. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and experienced leader to make a significant impact on teaching, learning, and the wider life of the school.
The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, an excellent communicator, and a highly skilled practitioner with a proven track record of improving outcomes for pupils. They will work closely with the Headteacher, senior leadership team, and wider staff to ensure the highest standards across all aspects of school life.
Key Areas of Responsibility
• Assessment Leadership — Lead and oversee assessment across KS1 and KS2, ensuring robust systems that drive pupil progress and inform high quality teaching.
• Primary Curriculum Development — Shape, refine, and evaluate our curriculum to ensure it is ambitious, coherent, and meets the needs of all learners.
• Pedagogy and Teaching & Learning — Drive improvements in classroom practice, model excellent teaching, and support staff in developing evidence informed pedagogy.
• Operational Leadership — Support Assistant Headteachers in their operational responsibilities and oversee the daily organisation of a busy split site school.
• Behaviour and Pastoral Leadership — Work alongside Assistant Headteachers to maintain high standards of behaviour, wellbeing, and pastoral care across the school.
• Pupil Achievement — Ensure all pupils make strong progress and achieve well, with a particular focus on vulnerable groups.
• Staff Development — Lead professional development, coaching, and performance management to build a highly skilled and motivated workforce.
• Safeguarding — Act as a key safeguarding leader, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met and pupils are safe.
• Health and Safety — Support the Headteacher in maintaining a safe, compliant learning environment across both sites.
• Wider School Life — Contribute to enrichment, community engagement, and the broader educational experience of pupils.
• Deputising for the Headteacher — Take full responsibility for the school in the Headteacher’s absence.
