Why New Fosseway School?

We pride ourselves on being an employer of choice where all staff can thrive. We believe that supporting our staff both personally and professionally allows them to give their very best to our students.

New Fosseway School is a special school for pupils between the ages of 4—19. We offer high quality education for children with a range of needs including severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties and autistic spectrum disorder.

Structure and routine are vital, but the curriculum is an ambitious combination of academic and life-skills learning to prepare our pupils for future education and training, more independent living so no two days are the same. We embrace the challenges, seeking solutions and improvements and are not afraid to try new things. We share the ‘laughs’ and celebrate the achievements. Pupils are grouped by ability and to meet their social needs rather than age.

Supporting our students can sometimes be challenging. They may get frustrated, anxious and emotional and you will need to guide them through it by helping them to manage their feelings and behaviour. You will have the ongoing support of a skilled and dedicated team. Some of our pupils are non-verbal using alternative means of communication including Makaton, signs, symbols or communication aids, often using a multisensory approach.

We are a highly collaborative, supportive, and dedicated staff team. Working together to understand the unique, complex learning and additional needs of our learner, sharing expertise, and embedding best practice are all incorporated in to everything we do.

Please refer to our school website if you require more information about our school.
