An exciting opportunity for a part-time experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant/Cover Supervisor has arisen.

The governing body would like to appoint an enthusiastic, hardworking and flexible Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our friendly and well established team on a fixed term contract from 3rd September 2026 until 31st August 2027.

The successful candidate will have a senior role on our support staff team.  The main focus of work will be:

Class cover

  • Providing class cover for teacher absence, including planned and emergency cover. Some planning and delivery of lessons may be involved, eg teaching PHSE/MFL.

There will also be a small amount of responsibility for:

Family Support

  • Including managing attendance, liaising and supporting families and working to protect children as a key member of the safeguarding team.

English as an Additional Language

  • Assessing and supporting pupils with EAL.

We are looking for a confident and experienced individual who is keen to make a difference in a small welcoming school. The role is a Bristol Grade 9 (BG9) post for 18 hours per week 8:45-3:45, with an hour for lunch, days to be discussed but some flexibility, Term time only plus all inset days.  

Fishponds is in easy reach of Bristol's city centre while being near to local parks as well as a wide variety of local shops including Morrisons, Lidl and Aldi. Transport links including the M32, the Bristol to Bath Cycle Path and local bus services are also very close to the school. There is plenty of on-road parking. The school has a wonderfully diverse community which makes us both unique and special.
