As a developing Multi Academy Trust, now is an exciting time to join us as Westlea Primary School are in search of an Assistant SENDCo to lead, co-ordinate and deliver programmes which support our CYP in achieving outstanding educational outcomes.

You will work closely with the Assistant Headteacher, class teachers and other members of the team to ensure gaps in progress between underperforming groups of CYP and other CYP are closed, with a focus on English and Maths.

Your Role

As an Assistant SENDCo the attached job description will detail your role in full. But at a glance, some of the key fields you will be responsible for include (but are not limited to):

  • Support the SENDCo in the filtering and responding to formal consultations as part of the consultation process.
  • Provide appropriate CPD to all employees in a range of specific learning difficulties in the classroom.
  • Support the SENDCo in meeting all statutory expectations as part of the annual review process.
  • To develop, run and monitor interventions programmes; keeping effective records of CYP progress, in accordance with Education Provision (EP) procedures
  • To attend and provide reports for CYP meetings as appropriate
  • Support education staff in the writing of reports for statutory reporting including the annual review of EHCPs

Your Experience

Our Assistant SENDCo person specification attached will contain the full areas of skills and experience, but it is really important to us that you feel comfortable and confident in your role, so although you may not have everything desirable, there are some essential features our appointee will need to have and these include:

  • GCSE English & Maths – Grade A – C or equivalent
  • Good ICT skills, including use of Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Manual Handling training or equivalent
