Churchward is a special school, rated Good by Ofsted in 2023, for young people aged 11-19 with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and/or Social Communication Interaction Disorders (SCID).We are an inclusive and aspirational community where, built on absolute integrity, learning for life is holistic and specifically tailored to the needs of young people with social and communication challenges. Due to our continued growth, we are seeking to appoint an experienced Lead Teacher who is passionate and able to make a positive contribution to the learning experiences of our students who can support our brand new satellite provision, set to open in September 2024 in Swindon town centre.
Your Role
- To provide examples of good and outstanding teaching practice; including preparation and planning, classroom management and the maintenance of effective working relationships with students and colleagues
- To organise the effective deployment and direction of Teaching Assistants, within the classroom and support the development of an effective team
- To support the School Improvement Plan and contribute to the strategic vision of the Headteacher and Governors
- To participate in meetings which relate to the school’s management, curriculum,
- administration or organisation
- To communicate and co-operate with specialists from outside agencies to provide an effective
- To ensure that effective communication is maintained with parents/carers about their child’s welfare, progress and participation in our school community
Your Experience
- Have experience of working with children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)/Social Communication and Interaction Difficulties (SCID) (this is an advantage but is not essential)
- Have the ability to use ICT effectively to support teaching and learning
- Have an enthusiastic, imaginative and caring approach to children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Be able to work as part of a team and build positive relationships
- Have high expectations of pupils’ achievements relating to learning, independence and behaviour
- Have the ability to build positive relationships with students
