The Chalet School is a Primary School of ASC and SEND and we are in search of permanent Teaching Assistants to join our friendly and dedicated team. Our children need Teaching Assistants with warm smiles, a nurturing persona, someone with a sense of humour, who’s really good at listening and understands that our learning journeys are a bit different and that’s great!

With a flair for celebrating the smallest but most impacting successes of our pupils, retaining a patience in the knowledge this role comes with good days and challenging ones, we at The Chalet School will strive to meet the end goal of our Trust: To collaborate and build a successful community of mainstream schools and SEND provisions to ensure each and every one of our pupils have the education they deserve.

Your Role

As a Teaching Assistant the attached job description will detail your role in full. But at a glance, some of the key fields you will be responsible for include (but are not limited to):

  • Participate in activities designed to meet the emotional, physical and learning needs of individual children and groups of children, including those with special needs
  • Contribute to the monitoring and delivery of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP’s)
  • Monitor pupils’ responses to learning activities and encourage them to take an interest in their own learning
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with individual pupils and groups to ensure that pupils achieve learning targets

Your Experience

Our person specification attached will contain the full details, but it is really important to us that you feel comfortable and confident in your role, so although you may not have everything desirable, there are some essential features our appointee will need to have and these include:

  • Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills, relevant to the post NVQ 2 or willingness to undertake NVQ2
  • EYFS/Primary training and/or experience
  • Experience of working with SEND children
  • Good behaviour management skills
  • Relevant experience of supporting children with emotional, physical or learning needs

Hours: 29.5pw

Contract Type: Fixed Term Maternity Cover for up to 12 months
