The Opportunity
Horizons College is an innovative and inclusive specialist provision for young people aged 16-25 with learning difficulties and/or complex needs. Having opened our brand new college at the Interface Business Park in Royal Wootton Bassett in September 2022, we are seeking to appoint an outstanding Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) teacher or tutor, that will be able to teach learners with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) to join an established Independent Specialist Provider. This position is a fixed term contract to cover up to 12 months maternity leave.

Experience working with young people with ASC is desirable however this position may also be suitable for a candidate who is looking to move from mainstream to specialise in SEND

Your Role
As a Tutor the attached job description will detail your role in full. But at a glance, some of the key fields you will be responsible for include (but are not limited to):

• The successful candidate will have a passion for SEN
• Teaching a range of transferable skills in skills for independence and their specialist area to increase independence for learners (aged 16 +) with ASC (entry level up to Level 1)
• Effectively plan teaching learning and assessment, target setting, recording and evaluation of educational programmes
• Ensure that student learning experiences are organised in a progression which supports the development of each individual
• Promoting the well-being of young people and staff and develop good relationships with all learners and parents

Hours: 32.5 pw

Location: Royal Wootton Bassett.

Your Experience
Our person specification attached will contain the full areas of skills and experience, but it is really important to us that you feel comfortable and confident in your role, so although you may not have everything desirable, there are some essential features our appointee will need to have and these include:

• Qualified lecturer or teacher
• Possess a recognised teaching qualification and Level 3 or above in Mathematics or English
• Experience of working with CYP within a multisensory setting
• Show commitment to and be able to provide evidence of continuous professional development and demonstrate its impact on teaching and learning
• Possess appropriate IT skills relevant to the post, or be willing to undertake training
• Be able to demonstrate commitment to learner-centred learning and have the ability to contribute to curriculum development and creation of the materials bank
• Possess good oral and written communication skills, motivational and teamwork skills
