Do you have experience in special effects or prosthetic make-up? Do you want to teach the next generation of special effects and prosthetic artists? We are looking for Casual Hours Lecturer - Special Effects & Prosthetics to join Buckinghamshire College Group, based at our Aylesbury Campus.

Joining the Creative Department, you will be teaching the special effects and prosthetic make-up artists of the future. Working with students to develop their talents in many aspects of film and TV designs ranging from facial prosthetics, ageing, body painting, make-up and special effects such as cuts, scars and skin disorders. Creating aliens, zombies and unworldly creatures alongside other special effects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an industry professional who would like to teach alongside their professional practice.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Use own current professional and academic experience to deliver aspirational, engaging learning opportunities.
  • Promote high levels of student ambition leading to positive progression and excellent employer satisfaction.
  • Build positive and collaborative relationships with colleagues and students. Liaise with other staff as appropriate to ensure that work is fully and effectively covered.

Taking Teaching Further

The College actively engages with the Education & Training Foundation's Taking Teaching Further scheme to recruit industry professionals to teach within Further Education.

As industry professionals offer our students industry experience and insight we support our unqualified teachers to learn 'on the job'. You will be given full support throughout your development to fully qualified teacher status. Whilst in employment you would be enrolled onto the Level 3 Award in Education and training. After completion you can choose to move be onto our Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training qualification. This is a great way for experienced professionals to achieve a recognised teaching qualification whilst in employment.
