Job Title: Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead & Attendance Lead

Actual Annual Salary: £16,594 - £18,352 Based on hours and term time only working weeks

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £35,852 - £39,649 (CLF Grade E). Based on 37 hours per week, all year round.

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract until 31 August 2027

Hours: Part-Time, 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, Term time only + Inset Days, plus 5 additional days.

Additional Information: The working pattern can be discussed at interview

Dedicated to building strong partnerships between school, families, and external agencies to improve attendance and ensure every young person has the opportunity to succeed

The Deputy Designated Safeguarding and Attendance Lead will be expected to work in partnership with parents/carers to provide the best possible support for their young people and to promote understanding of their child’s needs. In doing so, the aim will be to promote and ensure improved attendance at school.

The successful candidate will find ways to make the academy and wider education system as inclusive and accessible as possible, in order to increase parental engagement, you will ensure that parents/carers have timely, useful information about their young person’s progress and attendance, and know how to support them to become successful pupils, with regular attendance at school.

You will work and collaborate with pastoral staff on strategies to support improved attendance and work with the Educational Welfare Officer and other outside agencies to support families, in turn resulting in improved attendance.

This role will be based at our Nailsea site, and you will work closely with the DSL who is based at our Weston super Mare site.

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge and understanding of current and national issues in relation to safeguarding.
  • Proven experience of working with children or young people.
  • The ability to work with parents, external agencies, and the wider community to take a proactive approach to safeguarding.
  • A dynamic nature with innovative ideas and a passion for securing positive outcomes for all students.
  • A keen interest in working with children and young people and a commitment to improving the life chances of students.
  • Under the guidance of the Assistant Principal for Inclusion, the successful postholder will lead on our Online Safety response, ensuring our practices align with current trends and national guidance.
  • Experience supporting families with attendance

About Lime Hills Academy: 

Lime Hills Academy is a special school for young people in years 5 - 11 who have an EHCP to support their SEMH needs. As a temporary arrangement we have been supported by the DfE and CLF to deliver our provision across two sites: a secondary site in Weston and a primary site in Nailsea. 

At our core, is a belief that every young person deserves the right to an educative experience that prepares them for adulthood and opens doors at Post 16. We do this by providing a targeted core curriculum that focuses in equal parts on literacy, numeracy, and PSHE.  This is enriched through outdoor learning, benevolent childhood experiences, arts, topic-based learning and specific interventions
