This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop outstanding pastoral provision, making a lasting difference to students’ wellbeing, inclusion and success:

This is a rewarding opportunity to lead and shape outstanding pastoral provision, supporting students with social, emotional and mental health needs to thrive. As Pastoral Support Manager, you will be part of the extended leadership team and will play a pivotal role in removing barriers to learning, driving inclusion, and ensuring all students can achieve their full potential. Working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including senior leaders, pastoral leaders, staff, families and external agencies, you will lead a dedicated team to deliver impactful interventions, promote positive behaviour, and champion the wellbeing and life chances of every student.

The Pastoral Support Manager leads the delivery of high-quality pastoral support across the academy, coordinating interventions and resources to meet the needs of vulnerable students. The role involves line managing pastoral staff, working closely with safeguarding, SEND and teaching teams, and liaising with external agencies to ensure effective support is in place. You will monitor and evaluate interventions, oversee alternative provision, contribute to academy improvement strategies, and support attendance, behaviour and safeguarding processes to ensure students are fully supported in achieving academic and personal success.

About you:

You will have:

  • A relevant qualification or significant experience in behaviour support, SEND or pastoral work, alongside strong knowledge of safeguarding and current education legislation.
  • Proven experience working with young people, particularly those with social, emotional and mental health needs, ideally within a secondary school setting.
  • Experience of multi-agency working and developing effective partnerships with families, external services and education professionals.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience of leading teams, driving improvement and delivering whole-school initiatives.
  • The ability to analyse complex situations, use data effectively, and implement strategies that improve student outcomes and engagement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive, professional relationships across a wide range of stakeholders.
  • High levels of organisation, resilience and emotional intelligence, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, equality and improving the life chances of all children and young people.

Applicants are advised to refer to the full requirements of the role in the attached job description and person specification, prior to submitting an application.
