About the Role

This role is offered on a full time, permanent basis.

Capital City College is seeking an experienced and values-driven Head of Welfare & Student Finance to lead welfare, Looked After Children (LAC) and financial support services across the college. This senior role provides strategic and operational leadership of learner welfare and finance services, ensuring high-quality, inclusive support for a diverse student population. You will oversee bursaries and hardship funding, manage budgets, lead a specialist team, and ensure services are compliant, transparent and student-centred. You will also act as the Designated Staff member for care-experienced learners, driving effective multi-agency working and ensuring robust support systems that remove barriers to learning and promote success. You will have leadership experience in welfare, education or a related field, with strong knowledge of learner finance and support systems. You will be an effective communicator, confident team leader and committed to safeguarding, equality and inclusion.

You will be joining a dynamic and supportive team of 8 colleagues who are committed to excellence. The team has a strong collaborative culture, sharing best practice and innovative approaches.

You will also line manage 7 staff, supporting their professional growth and contributing to the overall success of the department.

About You

* Confident working with data, budgets and reporting to inform decision-making.
* Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage complex processes.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong understanding of learner finance, bursaries and financial support systems, including relevant statutory guidance.
* Proven experience in leading and managing student support, welfare or learner services within an education or similar setting.
