DT TECHNICIAN
September 2025
22.5 hours per week (term time)
Claremont is looking for a capable and enthusiastic Design Technology Technician to join our forward-thinking and well-resourced Design and Technology department. This part-time role (22.5 hours per week) offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic educational environment, providing essential technical and administrative support that directly enhances pupils’ learning experiences.
You will support the department by preparing materials and ensuring equipment is maintained to a high standard. You will also offer practical support during workshops, helping pupils safely and confidently use tools and machinery.
Our Design and Technology department is a creative and innovative environment, offering a bespoke curriculum at Key Stage 3 and popular options at GCSE and A level. The DT studio is fully equipped with modern and traditional tools, enabling pupils to develop a wide range of skills. The department also runs a variety of extracurricular activities which continue to grow in popularity.
Successful applicants will have experience with workshop machinery, and a knowledge of specialist software would be advantageous. While prior experience in a school setting is not essential, an understanding of design and technology education and a commitment to supporting young learners is vital as is a willingness to develop new skills to support the evolving curriculum.
We are looking for an individual who is organised, methodical, and calm under pressure, with good communication skills and a strong sense of initiative. A strong awareness of safe working practices will be essential.
In return, Claremont Fan Court School offers a welcoming and supportive working environment with opportunities for professional development. In addition to a competitive salary, we also offer all the benefits of working in a thriving independent school including a defined contribution pension scheme, life assurance, a generous discount on school fees (for eligible staff), cycle to work scheme, onsite parking as well as complimentary lunches and refreshments during term-time.
