Salary: £28,467 to £30,201 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)

About the Role

An exciting opportunity to join the college’s safeguarding team as the Safeguarding Officer and LAC Support, to further develop and strengthen the safeguarding provision at Coventry College. Working alongside our DSL, Safeguarding and Wellbeing Manager and other members of the Safeguarding team.

To offer a frontline safeguarding response and provide intensive targeted support to learners who are at serious risk of underachieving and/or becoming NEET due to associated issues that may impact on their learning. For example, young carers (YC), refugee and asylum seekers, those subject to family breakdown (CLA, CL) or homelessness, financial difficulties, mental health concerns, substance misuse, and teenage pregnancy etc.

Promote and establish good attendance, by working with college tutors/lecturers, parents, carers, professionals and young people to reduce and remove barriers to learning and progress. Contribute to the planning and implementation of multi-agency approaches and support that promote positive outcomes.

Provide advice and support to staff on safeguarding matters and ensure that individuals know how to report concerns and understand reporting procedures

Requirements

Must-Have:

• Level 3 safeguarding qualification or commitment towards actively working towards gaining qualification.

• Level 2 qualification in English and Maths

• Experience of working with people within an educational organisation or youth work environment

• Experience of developing, organising and promoting social and recreational activities in various settings

  • Experience working with Looked After Children (LAC)
