To support, coach and assess apprentices working towards achieving an apprenticeship standard, making sure they meet the occupational standards, develop enough evidence to progress through gateway and are fully prepared to achieve the End Point Assessment.

2. Key Accountabilities

2.1 Plan effectively to deliver training and assessment for apprentice’s in their workplace to ensure progress on workplace assessment elements of specialist apprenticeship standards, supporting learners to develop and progress towards gateway.

2.2 Provide apprentice candidates with training, coaching and underpinning knowledge as appropriate to the specialist apprenticeship standard, to enable progress to be made appropriate to the level of the apprenticeship.

2.3 Act as an apprenticeship coach with a pro rata caseload of approximately 30-45 apprentices. Specific caseload to be agreed with line manager.

2.4 Complete high quality initial training plan documentation in conjunction with the apprentice and employer ensuring:

2.4.1 A thorough initial assessment has been conducted taking account of the apprentice’s prior knowledge and attainment.

2.4.2 A detailed training plan is completed to include evidence of co-design of delivery with the employer.

2.4.3 Accurately recorded start and end dates.

2.4.4 A clear plan to achieve the Off the Job requirement.

2.4.5 Valid input from the employer.

2.5 Carry out regular, high quality workplace reviews with the apprentice and their employer ensuring: Reviews will include detail in the following areas:

2.5.1 Setting and reviewing challenging smart targets

2.5.2 Providing sufficient evidence of apprentices’ progress and employer input.

2.5.3 Documenting questioning and responses around E&D, Prevent, British Values, Safeguarding and H&S.

2.5.4 Additional learning needs are discussed and reviewed with the apprentice and employer to ensure support is sufficient and beneficial for those that need it.

2.5.5 Apprentice is recording sufficient off the job training within the colleges system, liaising with the programme leader and employer to ensure any apprentice falling behind has a plan to catch up this allocation in a timely manner.

2.5.6 Quality of documentation meets the colleges audit standard,
