1. Purpose of Job

The role of Assistant Principal Resources is an important strategic leadership position and will contribute to the design and implementation of college strategy. The postholder will be a member of the Executive Team of the college involved in the strategic oversight of functions to meet current strategic objectives and help shape and deliver future strategies. The role will be responsible for monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the impact of services across the college, making strategic recommendations for change and taking a lead on their implementation.

2. Principle Areas of Accountability

Responsible for the management and strategic direction of:

• IT Infrastructure and Digital Strategy

• Management Information Systems (MIS)

• Estates and Facilities Strategy

• Environmental and Sustainability Strategy and progress towards Net Zero

• Health & Safety

• Risk Management and Board Assurance

• Procurement, contracts and delivery of Value for Money

• Data Protection Officer role

• Cross College processes and efficiencies

3. Principle Accountabilities

• Lead change and innovation to drive strategic objectives with a focus on sector standards and best practice, developing action plans for successful implementation.

• Provide effective and visible corporate leadership, demonstrating the core Darlington College values.

• Present to college Executive Board, College Management Group and Governor meetings concise reports providing strategic and operational updates through detailed information and analysis of data.

• Monitor performance targets, key objectives and standards of performance for reporting services with a focus on outstanding customer service.

• To ensure the college remains compliant with legislation and regulations relevant to the scope of responsibilities within the role and to provide Executive and Governors with updates and information of any changes, amendments or new requirements in a timely manner.

• To contribute in creating a positive, inclusive and supportive working environment that enables all members of the College community to work to the best of their ability and make a positive contribution to the organisation and the students we serve.

3. Main points relevant to the role

To have specific responsibility for the strategic oversight and management of the principal areas of responsibility, leading on innovation and implementation of strategies with a focus on delivering high quality services and meeting strategic objectives.
