Permanent, term-time-only position. 


1. Purpose of Job

To conduct and supervise examinations in a professional, calm, and supportive manner, ensuring full compliance with JCQ regulations. The postholder is responsible for maintaining the integrity, security, and smooth running of all examination sessions.

2. Principal Accountabilities

• Liaise with Exams Officers regarding Awarding Body regulations, special arrangements, and the collection of examination materials

• Prepare examination venues in accordance with JCQ requirements, ensuring all necessary equipment, resources, and technology are available and operational, including online assessment platforms where applicable.

• Verify candidate identity prior to examinations and ensure that unauthorised items, such as mobile phones and smart devices, are not brought into the examination room.

• Monitor examination sessions and deal appropriately with candidate queries, ensuring no assistance is provided that could compromise the integrity of the assessment.

• Supervise candidates during authorised toilet or rest breaks in line with examination regulations.

• Provide support to learners with approved access arrangements, including acting as a reader, scribe, prompter, or assisting in other approved capacities where trained to do so. 

• Ensure all candidates understand and comply with examination rules and procedures. 

• Maintain the security and confidentiality of examination materials before, during, and after each examination session. 

• Take appropriate action to prevent malpractice, minimise administrative errors, and uphold awarding body regulations. 

• Collect, check, and return examination scripts, attendance registers, and associated documentation to the Exams Team promptly, reporting any incidents or irregularities, including late arrivals, disruptions, or suspected malpractice. 

• Keep up to date with awarding body requirements, regulatory updates, and any relevant systems used to support examinations. 

• Comply with all College policies, procedures, quality assurance processes, and Health and Safety requirements. 

• Attend mandatory training, updates, and refresher sessions as required.
