1. Purpose of Job
To offer technical and practical support to Senior Lecturer/Lecturer and Instructors within the Area.
2. Principle Accountabilities
2.1 To assist in the organisation and maintenance and conduct pre-use checks on all activity equipment.
2.2 To assist in the maintenance of stores, tools and equipment within the Directorate.
2.3 To monitor and maintain stock records as required, issue and receive stores and maintain an acceptable standard of security for the activity equipment.
2.4 Ensure equipment is clean and correctly stored after use.
2.5 To ensure an adequate supply of materials are available to accommodate the practical assessments the students are required to undertake by liaising with the tutors.
2.6 To assist tutor to ensure activity areas have no hazards before sessions start and at all times.
2.7 To replace, repair and maintain all equipment within the area as required and keep records up to date.
2.8 To monitor the equipment performance, ensure it is clean and checked for defects, reporting any issues
2.9 To monitor and check the activity areas in line with Health & Safety requirements.
2.10 To conform, where required, to the Health and Safety at Work Act, the Electricity at Work Act (portable appliances) and COSHH regulations. This may involve assisting in maintaining data records for the aforementioned legislation.
2.11 To carry out such work, as necessary, to update equipment and stores in line with current trends.
2.12 To comply with all college policies and procedures in particular to those relating to Finance, HR, Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities.
2.13 To undertake such work, commensurate with grade and ability, as requested by the management.
2.14 At all times deliver a professional approach in all aspect of work, treating all staff, students and the wider college community with respect.
