Job Title: Assistant Bursar (Compliance)

Reports To: Bursar

Working Time: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This is a full-time, year-round position.

Salary: Competitive, depending on qualification and experience.

Holidays: 30 days in addition to bank holidays.

The Position:

We are seeking an exceptional Administrator to join our operational team as the Assistant Bursar (Compliance). This role is hands-on, supporting the Bursar in ensuring compliance with school policies, HR processes, and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will possess excellent organizational, administrative, and communication skills, along with the ability to anticipate needs and work collaboratively. A willingness to learn and contribute to the wider school community is essential.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Bursar:

School Policies:

Manage the review of school policies in collaboration with authors, the Headmaster, and relevant stakeholders.

Maintain a policy review framework to meet compliance requirements and update as needed.

Distribute updated policies to stakeholders and ensure they are accessible via appropriate channels.

Stay informed about inspection frameworks and regulatory changes, updating practices and policies accordingly.

Act as a custodian for inspection documentation and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.

Staff Records:

Maintain accurate records of staff holidays and absences.

Manage a staff training database and organize training programs.

Support the performance management process, including probation reviews and training needs analysis.

Ensure compliance with data protection legislation.

Recruitment:

Support the recruitment process, adhering to safe recruitment guidelines.

Handle recruitment advertising, shortlisting, and interview coordination.

Conduct pre-employment checks and maintain personnel files.

Manage new starter and leaver processes, including induction training and payroll updates.

Administration:

Provide administrative support to the Bursar and wider team.

Collaborate with other departments such as Marketing, Admissions, and Bursary.

Cover reception duties when necessary.

Person Specification:

Education and Knowledge:

Degree level education.

Experience in compliance within an educational setting.

Familiarity with regulated environments.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Personal Skills and Abilities:

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Prioritization and time management skills.

Ability to interpret and apply compliance regulations.

Excellent record-keeping abilities.
