Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Salary: Up to £24,336 FTE (36 hours over 39 weeks), dependent on qualifications and experience. Plus, an additional £1,000 Retention Bonus.

Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday. School hours are Monday 08:30-16:00, Tuesday to Thursday 08:30-16:15, and Friday 08:30-15:45, plus thirty minutes admin time.

About Us:

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join our specialist school and college. Situated in a beautiful 23-acre site on the edge of the Surrey Hills, our school provides therapy-based education to students aged 5-19 with severe social communication difficulties, complex learning disabilities, and challenging behaviours.

Responsibilities:

Support students in accessing therapy-based education, focusing on developing their independence and preparing them for life beyond school.

Work closely with a skilled and dedicated team to provide personalized support to students with varying abilities and needs.

Assist in implementing personalized timetables and delivering structured lessons in core subjects and life skills.

Utilize alternative communication methods such as Makaton, signs, symbols, and communication aids to support non-verbal students.

Guide students through challenging situations, providing emotional support and helping them manage their behaviour.

Participate in comprehensive training and mentoring sessions covering safeguarding, autism, positive behaviour support, and more.

Provide personal care to students as needed.

Requirements:

Literacy and numeracy skills to support student learning and complete necessary documentation.

Strong common sense and ability to dynamically assess and manage challenging situations.

Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with students, families, and professionals.

Patience and resilience to adapt to the pace of each student and remain calm in challenging situations.

Empathy, compassion, and a "can do" attitude.
