College Context

Farnborough College of Technology is an established and well-respected Further and Higher Education College with a mission to be a Community University. The College has a proud heritage rooted in engineering and aviation, but today teaches a diverse curriculum spanning nearly all industries.

As an outstanding and sustainable organisation, we have met planned objectives and annual projections over the last 4 years:

• Growth income from £15m to a forecast of £19m in 2020-21 despite the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

• Invested £23m in new and renovated facilities since 2016.

• Maintained Outstanding standards and maintained Outstanding Financial Health status over the 2017-21 Transformation Strategy period, which is forecast to remain.

All things being equal, by 2021-22 the College will have exceeded our income target to be a £21m College.

We are now seeking to appoint a Vice Principal for Teaching, Learning and Completion (TLC) as we position the College to meet new targets by 2030:

• Remain focused as an outstanding and inclusive Community University

• Achieve further growth of at least £5million to be a £25m+ institution by 2027

• Undertake further strategic capital investment in the estate with a vision of having carbon neutral buildings that are both employer and learner centric

This is a new role dedicated to Outstanding teaching and learning journey from enquiry through to successful progression. The successful candidate will share the College’s aspiration to be renowned for Outstanding achievement and progression. The successful candidate will work alongside the VP responsible for HE and Curriculum Enhancement and the VP responsible for Curriculum Development.

Responsible For:

Safeguarding, enrolment, retention, attendance, achievement; including, value added, distance travelled and progression to sustainable destinations.

Direct Reports:

4 Assistant Principals.

Reporting to the Principal Chief Executive, the post holder will be a member of SMT. Benefits include 35 days annual leave and TP/LGPS Pension Scheme.
