Teacher of English (1 post – 0.6 FTE)

Franklin Sixth Form College is seeking an ambition and highly motivated Teacher of English to join our experienced, dynamic English team from August 2026. This post offers an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about how English can change students’ lives, has a commitment to academic excellence, and wants to support students to achieve outstanding outcomes in a subject that lies at the heart of the curriculum.

English is a well-established department which delivers a range of A Levels and has particularly outstanding success in GCSE English Language. We are looking for a teacher who can deliver inspiring lessons, use innovative teaching strategies, and help students build both the skills and resilience needed for further study, apprenticeships, and employment. The successful candidate would initially join our team to deliver on the GCSE English Language course however, dependent upon expertise, there could be scope to contribute to A Level delivery within the department.

The ideal candidate will be well qualified with a degree in English and will demonstrate a commitment to high standards in teaching and learning. You should have the ability to challenge students of all abilities, analyse performance data effectively, and contribute to the continual improvement of departmental practice. An enthusiasm for collaborative planning and the willingness to support English enrichment activities will also be important.

In return, we offer a supportive team ethos and a College culture that encourages creativity in the classroom. Franklin College places a strong emphasis on staff wellbeing and professional growth, providing high-quality training and mentoring to help teachers refine their craft and progress in their careers.
