The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated individual to teach within our English team at Gower College Swansea. This role is a permanent, fractional (0.5) post based on the Gorseinon campus and involves delivery of the WJEC A level English curriculum. English is a very popular subject at Gower College Swansea so this is your opportunity to join a thriving department with a strong and supportive approach to teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work with the team to deliver A level English courses ensuring excellence in teaching, learning and assessment across both AS and A2.
  • To plan, prepare and teach A Level English courses ensuring schemes of work and assessments are appropriate to the exam board specification.
  • To ensure teaching and learning strategies and teaching materials are planned to meet the varied needs of learners.
  • To work with the Curriculum Leader and Learning Area Manager to set targets and monitor performance in recruitment, attendance, retention, attainment and successful completion.
  • To keep up to date with curriculum developments, subject knowledge and innovations in teaching and learning.

About You

  • Possess a relevant degree and a recognised teaching qualification.
  • Are able to demonstrate highly successful experience of teaching A level English and a passion for the subject.
  • A very confident communicator and committed individual who can engage and inspire learners of all abilities.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a team player.
  • The ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of learners.
