The Role

Gower College Swansea is seeking to appoint a professional and proactive Student Health Advisor (Triage) to provide a health advisory service to students across the College.

The successful candidate will provide advice and guidance relating to specific student health issues, support relevant staff in meeting learner needs, and promote health and wellbeing across the College. The role will also involve supporting the triaging of cases through Feel Safe and contributing to the development of effective health and wellbeing support systems.

  • Part time (30 hours per week)
  • Term time (40 weeks per year

  • £19.08 - £22.19 Per Hour
  • Cross Campus, Swansea

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out risk assessments for students who disclose high-risk medical conditions and provide advice to staff on how to support learners safely and effectively.
  • Coordinate and deliver a monthly Health Promotion programme, tailored to relevant health issues such as sexual health, healthy lifestyles and smoking, working with Learner Services and Marketing teams to maximise engagement.
  • Liaise closely with faculty staff, the Learner Experience and Wellbeing Manager and the Learner Support Co-ordinator to assess the medical and support needs of students with learning, physical and mental health needs.
  • Oversee and support the triaging of cases coming through Feel Safe and support the development and implementation of the health module within this system.

About You

  • Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist or health professional on the relevant part of the register.
  • Post-registration experience, including experience within an educational setting.
  • Experience of working with young people and delivering health education programmes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels, using initiative to organise, prioritise and respond to the needs of the service.
