Deputy Principal
Full time, starting September 2023.
Salary: £66,651 - £90,300
The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Leader to assist the Principal in translating the vision for the school into agreed objectives and operational and business plans, and to be accountable specifically for the school's educational and pastoral programmes including being the Whole School Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Reporting directly to the Principal, the successful applicant will lead the delivery of an outstanding pastoral and wellbeing experience for the students, and maximise the opportunities which equip young people to develop a self-confidence and resilience that stays with them throughout their lives.

Key accountabilities will include:
• Whole School Designated Safeguarding Lead, and leading on other pastoral areas such as Senior School/College Lead for Student Emotional and Mental Health and Wellbeing, Whole School Inclusion Lead, and Senior School Lead on Kindness.
• Identifying and securing the implementation of appropriate strategies to develop a classroom environment and teaching practice which secures effective learning across the breadth of the curriculum.
• Supporting the Principal in the recruitment, deployment, motivation, development and appraisal of staff to make the most effective use of their skills, expertise and experience and to ensure that all staff have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
• Monitoring and evaluating specific areas of responsibility in line with agreed school procedures, including evaluation against quality standards and performance criteria, and taking appropriate action on issues arising from evaluation.
• Budgetary responsibility, ensuring effective and efficient use of resources for Wellbeing, Mental Health and Safeguarding.
• Ensuring parents are kept well informed about the school curriculum, its targets, student attainment and their part in the process of improvement.

Skills, qualifications & experience should include:
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a Leadership Team, to show initiative and imagination, to have vision and the ability to inspire others.
• Substantial and successful experience of curriculum leadership and management, likely to have been gained as Head of Department, Key Stage Co-ordinator or an equivalent senior role.
• A well-qualified graduate with QTS or equivalent experience.
• Successful teaching experience in a range of settings across the full age range 11–18, up to and including A level, with a track record of consistently enabling learners to achieve high standards.
• Proven experience of effective pastoral care and student management.
• A supportive and inclusive approach regarding different cultures, backgrounds, abilities and personal choices.
• Effective and energetic in instigating and implementing change, being able to see complex strategies through from concept to conclusion.
• Ability to interpret statistical data and manage budgets.
