Make a real difference to apprentices’ lives and futures

Are you passionate about supporting learners to thrive, stay engaged, and achieve their potential? We’re looking for an Apprenticeship Mentor to join our Apprenticeship Academy at Peterborough College, where you’ll play a vital role in shaping positive outcomes for our apprentices.

This is a rewarding, people‑focused role where you’ll combine mentoring, pastoral support, personal development delivery and data‑led interventions to help apprentices succeed both personally and professionally.

About the role

Reporting to the Group Apprenticeship Delivery Manager, you’ll work closely with curriculum teams, Student Services, ALS, Welfare, Careers, and employer partners to support apprentices across a diverse range of programmes.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Delivering engaging personal development sessions aligned to the OFSTED Education Inspection Framework
  • Providing pastoral support and acting as a key point of contact for apprentices in your caseload
  • Identifying additional support needs and coordinating timely interventions, particularly for vulnerable learners
  • Monitoring attendance, punctuality, retention and progress, using data to drive improvement
  • Working collaboratively with employers to ensure apprentices are supported both on programme and in the workplace
  • Supporting safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion across the Apprenticeship Academy

Your work will directly contribute to high retention, strong attendance and positive destinations for our apprentices.

Who we’re looking for

We’re keen to hear from candidates who:

  • Have experience working with young people or adults in a support, mentoring or educational role
  • Are confident delivering group sessions and building positive, professional relationships
  • Understand the importance of safeguarding, inclusion and learner wellbeing
  • Are organised, resilient and able to manage competing priorities
  • Communicate effectively with learners, colleagues and external partners

A Level 2 qualification in learner support, mentoring or coaching is essential. Experience in an FE or apprenticeship environment is desirable but not essential — we value attitude, empathy and commitment to learner success.

What we offer

In return, we offer:

  • 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays and discretionary days
  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • A supportive, collaborative working environment
  • Access to ongoing CPD and professional development
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful impact within an inclusive, values‑driven organisation

Safeguarding Statement:

IEG is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children, young people and any vulnerable groups within the college community and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to thorough vetting process which includes, an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
