Inspire the next generation of performers. Lead an innovative and ambitious HE Performing Arts provision.

University Centre Peterborough (UCP) is seeking a dynamic, experienced and passionate HE Curriculum Leader for Performing Arts to spearhead the development, delivery and enhancement of our HNC/HND Acting and Dance programmes.

This is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking academic or industry professional who wants to shape curriculum, lead a dedicated team, and directly influence the student experience across a thriving HE environment.

Reporting to the HE Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving quality, innovation and growth across the Performing Arts provision, ensuring our programmes meet sector benchmarks, regulatory requirements and the evolving expectations of industry and learners.

Key Responsibilities

As our HE Curriculum Leader – Performing Arts, you will:

  • Lead the coordination, quality assurance and continual development of assigned programmes, including new course proposals and curriculum review.
  • Ensure alignment with QAA benchmarks, academic regulations and external examiner recommendations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for programme-related queries, providing expert guidance and support to students, staff and partners.
  • Oversee assessment processes, moderation and preparation for awarding boards.
  • Manage programme recruitment and conversion activities including interviews, open days, outreach and applicant engagement.
  • Lead course validations and re-validations, producing high-quality programme documentation.
  • Plan and coordinate staff timetables, ensuring effective use of resources and continuity for learners.
  • Monitor quality indicators such as attendance, retention, achievement, student satisfaction and graduate outcomes.
  • Organise extra-curricular activities that support student success, progression, performance and employment pathways.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning, producing engaging resources, maintaining VLE content and ensuring an inclusive learning environment.
  • Champion excellent safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusive learning practices.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, quality enhancement and institutional committees as required.

About You

You will be an enthusiastic and committed educator/industry professional who is:

  • Qualified to degree level (or higher) in a relevant Performing Arts discipline, with teaching qualifications (or willing to work towards them).
  • Experienced in teaching at HE or FE level, with strong understanding of curriculum development and quality processes.
  • Skilled in building positive, productive relationships with students, colleagues and external partners.
  • Organised, reflective and able to prioritise effectively in a busy academic environment.
  • Confident in using digital tools and MS Office to support learning and administration.
  • Committed to safeguarding, inclusive practice and continuous professional development.
  • Industry experience, assessor/IV qualifications and familiarity with current sector initiatives are desirable and will be advantageous.
