Technician Trainer in Electrical

Location: Peterborough College

Salary: £24,430

Hours: 37 hours per week, all year round

Contract: Permanent

Bring your trade skills into education — and help build the next generation of electricians.

If you’ve built a career in the electrical or construction industry and are ready for a new challenge, this could be the perfect next step. We’re looking for a practical, motivated, and safety-conscious Technician Trainer to join our Construction team at Peterborough College.

You’ll use your real-world experience to train, support and inspire learners on our Construction programmes — helping them gain the hands-on skills and confidence they need for successful careers.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver practical training and support in electrical and construction skills
  • Coach and assess learners in workshops and on accredited programmes
  • Maintain tools, materials and equipment to a high standard
  • Supervise learners in workshops, ensuring a safe and positive environment
  • Keep workshops organised, stocked, and compliant with Health & Safety regulations
  • Work closely with teaching staff to deliver engaging, high-quality learning experiences

What we’re looking for

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience in the construction or electrical industry
  • A good working knowledge of health and safety in a workshop environment
  • Strong practical skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence working with young people and adult learners
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a passion for sharing your skills

Ideally, you’ll hold (or be willing to work towards):

  • Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject area
  • Level 3 Award in Education & Training (PTLLS) or equivalent
  • Emergency First Aid and Health & Safety certifications

Why join us?

At Peterborough College, part of the Inspire Education Group (IEG), you’ll join a supportive and friendly team that values practical experience and professional growth.

We offer:

  • Excellent holidays (30 days + bank holidays + discretionary days)
  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Ongoing training and development (including teaching qualifications)
  • A stable, full-time, year-round role — no more site shutdowns or weather delays!
  • The chance to make a real difference in shaping the future workforce

How to apply

If you’re ready to use your trade experience to inspire the next generation, we’d love to hear from you.
