Reporting to the Group Director of Finance, you will play a key part in strengthening financial understanding across the organisation. You’ll build strong relationships with managers, supporting them to navigate budgets, interpret data and improve financial outcomes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Completing month‑end close procedures and ensuring accurate reconciliations
  • Attending regular meetings with managers to review performance and discuss variances
  • Providing clear financial insight and commentary to support decision-making
  • Helping to develop and improve financial processes across the department

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who is confident working independently and collaboratively, with a positive, proactive approach. You’ll need:

  • Recent experience in a finance role
  • Strong communication skills, especially when explaining financial information to non‑finance colleagues
  • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to work accurately under pressure
  • Intermediate IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel
  • The ability to handle confidential information with professionalism

You will also need:

  • Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE or equivalent)
  • A Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject
  • AAT (or similar) qualification, or to be working towards it

Experience within a Further Education environment is desirable but not essential.

Why join us?

At IEG, you’ll be part of a supportive and values‑driven organisation where your contributions make a real difference. You’ll benefit from:

  • 30 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays and discretionary days
  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Ongoing CPD and professional development opportunities
  • A collaborative, forward‑thinking working environment
