Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of performers? We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Lecturer in Performing Arts to join our Creative Arts faculty at Peterborough College.

This is a fantastic opportunity to share your industry experience, creativity and teaching expertise with learners across Levels 1 to 4, including HND programmes.

Reporting to the Head of Faculty – Creative Arts and Land Based Studies, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding teaching, shaping engaging curriculum content and supporting students to achieve their full potential. This role also includes course coordination and may involve internal verification/moderation duties.

About the role

As a Lecturer in Performing Arts, you will contribute to high-quality teaching, learning and assessment, ensuring students receive an excellent learner experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons that meet Professional Teaching Standards
  • Teaching across a range of Performing Arts courses, from Level 1 to HND
  • Assessing work, providing constructive feedback and supporting students to set and meet SMART targets
  • Creating and updating course materials, schemes of work and learning resources
  • Delivering academic tutorials to guide learners’ progress and support their success
  • Contributing to course development, programme review and quality assurance processes
  • Supporting students with work experience, employer links and enrichment opportunities
  • Participating in recruitment activities such as interviews, open evenings and course promotion

You’ll be a key part of a collaborative and innovative team committed to delivering excellent creative arts education.

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings both strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching and supporting learners.

You will have:

  • A Level 5 teaching qualification (or be willing to work towards one)
  • A relevant Level 3/4 qualification, HND, degree or industry‑based professional qualification
  • Recent and comprehensive experience working within Performing Arts
  • Level 2 English and Maths
  • Assessor Award (A1/TQA/CAVA) – essential

You’ll be a creative and engaging educator who can motivate learners, manage classroom behaviour and adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of different students. Strong organisational, communication and IT skills are essential.

Experience in FE, course coordination or internal verification is desirable but not essential — we welcome applicants with strong industry or performance backgrounds who are passionate about developing the next generation of talent.

Why join us?

At Peterborough College, part of IEG, you’ll be part of a vibrant, supportive and forward‑thinking team dedicated to learner success. We offer:

  • 37 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays and discretionary days
  • Membership of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme
  • A comprehensive programme of CPD and professional development
  • A creative, collaborative environment where your ideas and expertise are valued
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality and an inclusive learning experience

Safeguarding Statement:

IEG is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children, young people and any vulnerable groups within the college community and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to thorough vetting process which includes, an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
