About the Role
As a Work Experience Coach, you’ll support students through every stage of their work placement journey—from preparing them for the world of work to ensuring they secure meaningful placements aligned to their learning goals.
Working closely with curriculum teams and Work Experience Recruitment Officers, you’ll help match students to suitable employers, guide them through required documentation, and monitor their progress to ensure they complete required hours and gain valuable industry experience.
This is a hands-on, student-facing role where your guidance, communication skills, and organisation will directly shape positive outcomes for learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver tutorials, workshops, and 1:1 support to promote work experience and enhance employability skills.
- Work with curriculum teams to identify placement needs for each programme.
- Match students to suitable placements based on their skills, needs, goals, and practical considerations such as transport and support requirements.
- Ensure all safeguarding, consent, health, and DBS documentation is completed accurately and on time.
- Track and monitor student progress, updating college systems and reporting to the Work Experience Group Lead.
- Liaise with Work Experience Recruitment Officers to follow up leads and secure high-quality opportunities.
- Support promotion of the college’s work experience offer at internal and external events.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a customer-facing or student-support role
- Strong administration, organisation, and planning skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage students and colleagues
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good IT skills and experience using digital systems
- Understanding of safeguarding, equality, and inclusion
- Level 3 qualification (or working towards), plus Maths and English at Level 2
