Design Technology Technician
Required September 2026
30 hours per week, term time plus five days - Permanent Contract
Grade 14 £25,185 - £25,989 per annum pro rata
Actual Starting Salary £17,486
Monday – Friday 9.00am – 3.30pm (30-minute unpaid lunch break)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design and Technology Technician to join our team who is creative, practical and enthusiastic. You will play a crucial role in delivering outstanding technical support to the team and enhancing teaching and learning throughout the Design Technology curriculum. The perfect candidate will assist both teachers and students during practical activities, manage inventory, coordinate equipment maintenance, and handle various administrative duties related to the department and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of students' practical skills and creative thinking.
Candidates will need to demonstrate the following:
• Experience of working with, or relating to, young people and have a commitment to their education, development and aspirations
• Applicants should be practical, creative, enthusiastic, flexible, demonstrate initiative and have excellent communication/ICT skills. Full training will be provided for the successful candidate
• Experience of the use of metal and wood machinery/tools (milling machines, lathes etc.) used in Design Technology including CAD/CAM
• Knowledge of materials used in Design Technology and a sound understanding of health and safety issues and COSHH
• Have strong practical skills, excellent communication and teamwork skills and the ability to cope with competing demands
