The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and student-focused Early Years Lecturer to join our teaching team at South Bank Colleges and Academies.

This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and develop the next generation of early years professionals. You will deliver high-quality teaching across Early Years programmes, supporting learners to build the knowledge, practical skills, and professional behaviours required to succeed in early childhood education and care settings.

As an Early Years Lecturer, you will play a vital role in shaping learners’ futures, promoting outstanding practice in early years education, and ensuring students are fully prepared for employment or further study.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive, and high-quality lessons in Early Years and related subjects
  • Support learners to develop both theoretical understanding and practical skills relevant to early years practice
  • Assess student work, provide constructive feedback, and monitor progress to ensure achievement of learning outcomes
  • Act as a personal tutor, providing academic and pastoral support to learners
  • Contribute to curriculum development to ensure programmes remain current, industry-relevant, and aligned with qualification requirements
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, employers, and placement providers to enhance the learner experience
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievement

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant qualification in Early Years, Childcare, Education, or a related field (degree or equivalent)
  • Experience working within early years settings (e.g., nurseries, preschools, primary EYFS environments)
  • Teaching experience in Further Education or training (or willingness to work towards a teaching qualification if not already held)
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood development, safeguarding, and current early years frameworks and practices
  • Experience assessing coursework and supporting learners with diverse needs
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
