Industry Work Placement Coordinator. Engineering. Full Time. Permanent.  

We are looking to appoint an Industry Work Placement Coordinator to join our large and energetic Engineering department. The successful applicant will source and liaise with external agencies/employers and organise industry placements/work experience for a caseload of students predominantly aged between 16 and 18.  Duties will include carrying out health and safety risk assessments prior to placement, match knowledge, skills, and behaviours of students to placement/employer requirements and act as the first point of contact for the employer and the students prior to and during the work placement. Your role will help support students to become independent through the development of their employability skills, preparing them to progress to positive destinations.

The successful candidate will have a Level 3 qualification in IAG or counselling/coaching, a Level 3 or equivalent vocational qualification in Engineering / Motor Vehicle related industry preferable along with a Level 2 minimum or equivalent qualification in English and maths. Experience of working with young people is required and appropriate experience and some knowledge of the Engineering/Motor Vehicle sector would be an advantage.

You will be a proactive individual and possess excellent communication skills with the ability to approach difficult issues in a calm and responsible manner.  You will be able to build effective working relationships with employers, students, and colleagues to maximise opportunities and ensure targets are met.
