Lecturer in Construction. Apprenticeship and Commercial. Full Time. Temporary (Maternity cover).

Leicester College's Apprenticeship and Commercial Operations Department is one of the largest apprenticeship providers in the region with an ambitious vision for delivering gold standard apprenticeship and construction programmes that positively shape the future careers of all Leicester College learners. If you are looking for a new challenge or looking for a career change and have the right attitude and skills, then this is your opportunity to join a motivated, creative and well-resourced department full of like-minded people who are on an exciting journey.

We are looking to appoint an ambitious Lecturer with a passion for Construction who can pass on their experience, knowledge, skills and attributes to our students to help support them to develop their own skills, knowledge and behaviours that will lead to achieving a qualification and a successful career.

The successful candidate will deliver a variety of units across the Level 3 and Level 5 Built Environment qualifications as standalone programmes or as part of the Level 4 apprenticeship. This is a new addition to the impressive portfolio of courses offered by the College and you will have the opportunity to be an integral part of the team responsible for developing and enhancing this programme.

The successful applicant will possess a range of construction skills relating to the Built Environment Level 5 qualification and the Higher Level Construction Site Supervisor apprenticeship standard. You will also have the ability to work as part of a team, provide feedback in a way that motivates individuals and help students overcome potential barriers to progress and achievement.

You will be Educated to a Level 2 minimum in English and maths (GCSE Grade C or above, GCSE Grade 4 or above or equivalent), a Level 3 qualification in a Construction subject together with related industrial experience. It would also be beneficial to have experience in delivering Electrical Installations and mathematics units. You will be required to hold a full teaching qualification e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE or be willing to work towards obtaining a teaching qualification. Knowledge of the Apprenticeship Standards, E - portfolio’s (Smart Assessor) and experience of working with students would be beneficial along with excellent communication skills and a 'can do' approach to tasks. An Assessor qualification would also be beneficial.

The employment package we offer includes 56 days annual leave (including bank holidays and concessionary days) and membership to the Teachers Pension Scheme (TPS).
