Overview:
Leicester High School for Girls is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Development and Lettings Officer to support the continued growth and development of the school. This individual will play a key role in overseeing the school’s external letting programs and supporting its fundraising and development initiatives. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills and a passion for the development and management of educational environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Development:
Fundraising Support:
• Assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of fundraising campaigns and events.
• Support the development of key donor relationships and maintain donor databases.
• Collaborate with the Leadership Team to identify opportunities for financial support and external partnerships.
Grant Writing and Applications:
• Research and identify relevant grant opportunities for the school.
• Prepare, write, and submit grant applications for funding.
• Monitor and report on the progress and outcomes of grants and projects.
Alumni and Community Relations:
• Develop and maintain relationships with alumni, parents, and the wider community to promote the school’s mission.
• Organise and assist with alumni events and reunions.
• Ensure effective communication of school achievements, events, and fundraising progress to all stakeholders.
Events Management:
Event Planning and Coordination:
• Plan, organise, and deliver key school events, including open days, awards ceremonies, and alumni gatherings.
• Coordinate logistics such as catering, venue setup, and guest management.
• Ensure events align with the school’s branding and strategic objectives.
Stakeholder Engagement:
• Work closely with staff, students, and external partners to deliver high-quality events.
• Engage with donors, parents, and the community to maximise event impact and attendance.
• Provide post-event analysis and recommendations for improvement.
Compliance and Risk Management:
• Ensure all events comply with school policies, health and safety regulations, and risk assessment procedures.
• Manage event budgets effectively to ensure cost efficiency while maintaining high standards.
Lettings:
Venue Management:
• Oversee the lettings process for external organisations wishing to rent school facilities.
• Manage and coordinate booking systems for the school’s sports halls, classrooms, and outdoor spaces.
• Ensure that lettings contracts are prepared, signed, and payments are processed in a timely manner.
Customer Service & Relationship Management:
• Provide excellent customer service to external clients and internal staff regarding facilities bookings and events.
• Liaise with clients to ensure that all their needs are met before, during, and after events.
• Ensure compliance with school policies, health and safety regulations, and insurance requirements during lettings.
Marketing and Promotion:
• Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote school facilities for external lettings.
• Create promotional materials and update the school website with relevant letting information.
• Track and report on lettings revenue and ensure it meets the school’s financial goals.
General:
Reporting and Administration:
• Maintain accurate records of all fundraising, development activities, and lettings income.
• Prepare regular reports for the Leadership Team, Governors and other stakeholders on fundraising and lettings activities.
Collaboration with School Teams:
• Work closely with the school’s administrative, events, and marketing teams to ensure coordination of development and lettings activities.
• Support the Bursar with strategic planning and execution related to development and lettings activities.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Degree or equivalent experience in marketing, business development, or a related field.
• Previous experience in a development or lettings role, ideally within an educational or charitable environment.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven experience in fundraising, donor relations, or marketing.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards in a school or event environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
