Leyton Sixth Form College offers a wide range of A level and vocational courses to approximately 2,300 full-time 16-19 year old students. We strive to provide high quality education and support to our students in fulfilling their academic potential and becoming thinking, questioning and caring members of society. We are a diverse and vibrant college and we are proud of the success and achievements of our students and staff.

We have engaged in extensive self-reflection over the past two years motivated by significant societal events as well as the ongoing commitment to be a responsive, innovative and forward thinking college and an ambitious learning community. In order to realise this commitment in our day to day work, we have developed a framework of Compassionate Education, a concept which embraces inclusive practice, seeks to apply the principles of equality and diversity in all we do, promotes the importance of positive mental health and wellbeing for all and advances our ambition to be an anti-racist organisation.

We are presently seeking an exceptional manager to lead our English and Modern Foreign Languages and Expressive Arts department and make a significant contribution to the achievements of this highly successful programme area.

As a Programme Manager, you will lead initiatives within the English, Modern Foreign Languages and Expressive Arts curriculum, play an active role in setting and achieving targets, and support the maintenance of high standards of teaching and learning, ensuring a high-quality learning experience for all students. The college has achieved the Gold Arts mark award, and our Expressive Arts department has modern facilities built as part of the extensive building and redevelopment programme. The purpose-built accommodation includes a 120-seat theatre, dedicated studio spaces for drama and dance, music practice rooms and an editing suite. This provides an excellent learning environment for our students and enables us to run a successful calendar of productions and performances.

You will be a key member of the college’s management team and will not only contribute to improvements and success within your own area, but to other college-wide initiatives and activities.

You should be suitably qualified to teach a relevant or related subject (in one or more of English, Performing Arts and Music) within a sixth form college. In addition, you should have excellent communication skills and a track record of sustained improvement leading to a positive impact on students’ progress. As an inspirational teacher you will be committed to student-centred learning, and to raising the attainment and aspirations of our students.

In return we offer a wide range of staff benefits and the opportunity to work within a thriving learning community.

Leyton Sixth Form College is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to diversifying the background of its workforce and welcomes applications regardless of sex, gender, race, age, sexuality, religion, belief or disability.
