The Role
An experienced lecturer in Brickwork is required to assist with the effective planning and organisation of the brickwork curriculum and teach on a range of Level 1 and 2 courses with students of varying abilities teaching across a range of levels and awarding bodies, including Level 1 and 2 courses as well as working with C&G awarding bodies. They should be willing to assist the Curriculum Manager with the curriculum development and the expansion and development of the department as well as the promotion of and other courses in the Construction curriculum areas and participate in marketing events as required.

Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in teaching and or relevant industry experience. They will have achieved a minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy and be a qualified FE teacher or be willing to work towards this.
They would have the ability to articulate clearly and to be understood in teaching and making presentations to class groups and have efficient administration skills to support good student record keeping.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive lectures, tutorials, and practical demonstrations in brickwork, covering topics such as bricklaying techniques, construction methods, and materials science.
  • Design and implement hands-on projects and exercises to reinforce theoretical concepts and develop practical skills in bricklaying, masonry, and related trades.
  • Provide guidance and support to students in the workshop and construction site environments, ensuring their safety and promoting best practices in brickwork.
  • Assess student learning outcomes through a variety of methods, including practical assessments, exams, and project work, and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and advancements in brickwork and construction techniques to ensure the curriculum remains relevant and aligned with industry needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and industry partners to develop new courses, programs, and initiatives that enhance the educational experience for students and meet the evolving needs of the brickwork industry.
