The Role

The College provides high quality education and skills training throughout the region and are committed to attracting and retaining the very best staff talent. We are looking for highly motivated individuals to support the work in the Hair and Beauty department to improve learner achievement. The role of the Facilitator is a key role in the department ensuring learners build their skills on the running of a realistic working environment in the Hair and Beauty salons.

You will work flexibly to prepare and maintain equipment and resources for classes and teachers. You will oversee the safe storage of all resources as well as contributing to the achievement of learners. You will be responsible for improving the quality of customer services within the department. In addition, you will provide advice on technical issues and be responsible for practical demonstrations to small groups of students as well as assess learners within their vocational qualification and in the reception/Display stock area.

Skills and Experience

Ideally, we are looking for someone who has experience of running a Hair and Beauty Salon and this could be in the commercial or teaching environment.

You will have level 3 hair and/or beauty qualification. You will have experience in operating and maintaining all equipment within the Hair and Beauty department and stock taking. You will have an awareness of health and safety procedures, COSHH and risk assessments. You must have excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work across all areas of the college. You will have high level of organisation skills and ability to cope with a demanding and diverse workload, coupled with being customer/user focused and genuine desire to embrace equality and diversity in all aspects of work.

Please note this is a part time role, working 2 days a week, which would be Thursday and Friday.

Benefits

The benefits package includes generous annual leave of 27 days plus 3 Christmas closure days and 1 day for volunteering (pro rata for part time staff). There is an excellent pension scheme that receives a significant financial contribution from the College (Teachers’ Pension or Local Government Pension Scheme and Nest). Staff also have access to employee assistance programme, free onsite parking, salary sacrifice cycle to work/ bike loan scheme, and annual season ticket loan. You will have access to onsite gym at Bromley, discount on inhouse café and hair and beauty treatments. We are investors in people accredited and committed to professional development of our staff members.

As the College supports a number of children and vulnerable adults, all staff are exempt from Section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Accordingly, all staff will be subject to an ‘Enhanced’ DBS (formerly CRB) check, along with a Children’s Barred List check if in regulated activity. Any offers of appointment may be withdrawn if these checks prove to be unsatisfactory to the College. Self-disclosure will be required as part of the recruitment process. If you fail to make a full disclosure or provide sight of your DBS certificate then your offer of employment is likely to be withdrawn. The College's DBS policy covers the recruitment of ex-offenders which is available upon request.
